Hatuyume

Do you remember the dream you had on New Year's Day?  In Japan, there is a custom of telling the fortune of the year with the contents of this first dream.  So today I would like to talk about year’s first dream, which is called Hatsuyume in Japan.

The custom of Hatsuyume has been in Japan for a long time.  Also, dreams that are said to be auspicious have been passed down.  There are auspicious things to see in a dream, and they are that first is Mt. Fuji, second is hawks, third is eggplants.  Some of these have meaning, such as hawks that seize opportunities, but there is also a theory that it is decided from Japanese wordplays.  Then, forth is folding fans, fifth is cigarettes, and sixth is blind priests who playing the biwa, which is Japanese lutes.

Unfortunately, I do not remember my first dream, but if you saw these in your first dream, it could be a good year.
