Matcha

     Today I would like to talk about “Matcha”, Japanese green tea.  It is the Japanese traditional tea, and the color is beautiful green.  The taste is so bitter that people often drink it with something sweet such as Japanese-style confectioneries.  However, I think that few Japanese people usually enjoy “matcha” now.  Instead, there are a lot of matcha-flavored sweets on the market.

     I like “matcha” very much.  Of course, I like to drink it, but I also like the tea ceremony protocols.  It has been regarded as a kind of hospitality to entertain visitors and maintained for a long time.  It is so beautiful but difficult, and it takes a long time to make so visitors can enjoy the relaxing time.  If you get the chance, do not just drink tea, but enjoy the protocols.

    I belonged to the tea ceremony club once when I was a junior high school student. In the course of the tea ceremony, you use many kinds of tea things, such as a tea whisk, a silk wrapping cloth (called Fukusa) and kettles, and follow the many steps. It was difficult to learn, but I had a wonderful time.

      Thank you for your comment! I have learned the tea ceremony, too! It was difficult for me to acquire the correct way to use the tools through practice.

The Problem of Microplastics

      photo-ac.jp      Today I would like to talk about "microplastics".  We often hear about it in the news these days and it is a serious problem on a global scale.   They are tiny plastic particles floating in the sea.  It is caused by human activities, for example, when garbage thrown away by humans is shattered in the sea.  And they cause damage not only to many creatures but also to humans because sea creatures take microplastics and harmful substances attached to them.  Terrifyingly, microplastics are so small that they may accumulate in our bodies without being noticed.    Moreover, they are increasing with the consumption of plastics, but no effective recovery method has yet been found.   Therefore I think that it is one of the most dangerous problems.      To solve this problem, I think we should work together around the world.   For example, Japanese stores begin to charge for plast...

Ghost Hunt

       Today I would like to talk about one of my favorite books.  It is “Ghost Hunt”, which was written by Fuyumi Ono.      This is mystery and horror story.  It is a series novel, and the first volume is a story about exploring the psychic phenomenon of the old school building.  A high school girl, a boy who is a director of research offices, and other unique psychics search for the cause of the mysterious phenomenon, but...      I am not good at horror novels, but I recommend this book because it is not too scary.  I am sure that you really enjoy this book.  Also, Fuyumi Ono's book called “The Twelve Kingdoms” is also very interesting, so if you have not read it yet, please read!!

Looks of Moon

       When you look up the sky on a brighter night than usual, you often see the beautiful full moon.  In Japan, it looks like rabbits pounding steamed rice into cake, which is called mochi.  However, it seems different in other countries.  For example, it looks like a grandmother reading a book in Northern Europe, a crab in Southern Europe, and a long-haired woman in North America.  And, it looks like a barking lion in Arabia and a crocodile or donkey in South America. These look so different not only due to cultural differences but also due to the difference in the inclination of the pattern of the time zone when looking at the moon.      I like rabbits making mochi, but I also want to see the shapes of other countries.  Especially, I am interested in a long-haired woman and a crab.  So, I have to go other countries to see... photo-ac.com
